By: Summer Xia
The National Day holiday is around the corner, and we are becoming more and more thrilled as we and our friends of other cities are planning to go to many interesting events where we are to meet many many new young friends. Coming back then, we are to share with you what we see, hear and feel, and the hottest themes for the youth of China today.
There’re loads of ‘events for youth’ held in Beijing, China Youthology is ready for quite a few of them.
We are going to the Modern Sky Festival on Sep.30 – Oct.2, this year’s Modern Sky Festival offers 3 different stages for different music genres and the ‘Music +’ area for more interactive events such as the flee market for indie brands in which some of our little pals are going to sell and exchange their design work with other indie designers and music lovers there. This is more than a music festival!

Of course we won’t miss the NOTCH. Why? Because the founders of China Youthology, Lisa and Zafka, and our friend Shiz is going to perform there as the Wedding Beast/Prague, a post rock band? I’m not sure if they would agree with the label. Anyway we’ll see soon. And beyond that, we believe some ‘edgy’ and more sophisticated youth are queuing up for the music performed in NOTCH 08 in Yugongyishan club through Oct.2 to Oct.4.
Before that, on Sep.28 we are going to the ‘We will rock you’ Rock Festival held in 798, the famous art factory/district in Beijing. You know what, it’s totally free. I believe we can meet some of our student rock-loving friends there.
Later then, we are going to some iMarts around Oct.10 to Oct.19. There’s one called Midi Festival iMart, although Midi Music Festival is postponed, iMart might still go on; and there’s one held in Nanluoguxiang Alley which was accompanied with some traditional Chinese art performances.
Our friends in other cities are happy with the events in their cities too.
In Shanghai, other than NOTCH shanghai station, our friends are going to Shanghai Bienniale and the Taiwan Food Festival.
In Guangzhou, a batch of our young fellow friends are going to visit Guangdong Museum of Art for GZ Triennial. As sound artists, Zafka and his friends have a sound installation called ‘The Terminator and His World’ exhibited in GZ Triennial.
Can’t wait to start the exciting journey in the holiday and will bring back the most fresh stories. Happy holidays!
